Caribbean

The Caribbean is home to over 30 countries all of them drenched in year round sunshine and idyllic white sandy beaches.

The lesser known island of Aruba is a tiny island lying just 20 miles north of Venezuela and is known by the locals as ‘One happy island’ – it certainly lives up to this.  There are many water sports to partake in including parasailing, snorkelling and diving or if you prefer to relax, the stunning beaches are perfect to take in your surroundings with a good book.  There is also an off-road tour which takes you up to the Chapel of Alto Vista in a 4x4.  This is a thrilling ride and not for the faint hearted!

If you like your holiday with luxury as standard, then Barbados is definitely the place for you.  Whether you prefer the refined sophistication of white gloved service or the more laid back Caribbean street party atmosphere, you’ll find it here in Barbados.  There are various activities for you to enjoy if relaxation isn’t your thing.  Take a tram ride through Harrison’s Cave and take in the spectacular waterfalls and pools, tee off at one of the local golf courses or paddle into the towering surf in the islands east side.  Barbados isn’t for the frugal, even standard accommodation will set you back quite a bit but there is so much to do here, it may be worth spending that extra bit more for what you will get in return.

The second largest island in the Caribbean is the Dominican Republic which abounds with holiday options.  It can offer pure relaxation if that is your thing, with a massage on the beach thrown in you will certainly get lost in your thoughts and surroundings.  If you prefer a more active lifestyle, there are many hiking trails around the island or if the sea calls to you, windsurfing or canyoning.  For nature lovers, the wildlife will astound you – there are 19 national parks and 2 marine sanctuaries.

One of the most popular islands in the Caribbean is Jamaica.   Jamaica boasts the Caribbean’s best sun, sand and sea and the scenery is breathtaking.  Montego Bay is probably the most popular resort on the island and is perfect for couples seeking the ‘complete resort’ experience.  There are 5 major championship courses, luxurious spa’s and the famed Doctor’s Cave Beach which is fed by mineral springs and is said to have medicinal benefits.  There are a variety of tours available on both land and water and you will certainly be spoilt for choice.  You may choose something different such as horse riding on the beach, Jungle River tubing, swimming with dolphins or catamaran cruises.  You will never be bored if you prefer an adventurous holiday.

The Caribbean is so varied, whether you want to relax or if you seek adventure, you will find it here and have the idyllic surroundings of paradise to keep you focussed.
